Pebble Smartwatch Review

We can define the Pebble Smartwatch like clockwork which also has some smart functions. Thanks to its forms not too showy, this watch does not give too much in my eye and this can not be recognized as a classic watch but seem a smartwatch.
Its extremely minimalist line is very clean and aesthetically pleasing. The only con that disturbs a bit the design linearity are buttons, slightly too large and protruding; the same goes for the connectors for charging. This aesthetic flaw, however, is offset by the ease of use.
The Pebble Smartwatch is shipped in a classic and compact package. Inside is the clock, the power cord and instructions.

Technical characteristics of Pebble Smartwatch

As regards the technical characteristics of LED watches, these are not extremely sophisticated. The Pebble in fact cannot be compared to other smartwatch, like the Sony Smartwatch 3 or Apple Watch, smart, being those of Pebble far more limited. This makes it more like a Classic watch to which have been added some smart.
We see in detail the technical characteristics.

Hardware features

  • 128 MB of Ram
  • 1 MB of internal memory
  • Low energy Bluetooth 4.0
  • E-paper technology screen with a resolution of 144 × 168 pixels (allows a truly amazing battery life)

As for software, as we have already alluded to, don’t expect from Pebble the endless capabilities of the other smartwatch. Supported applications are not too numerous; Anyway, you feel very well its interaction with a smartphone both Android and iOS.

Software characteristics

  • possibility to receive notifications of your smartphone through vibration of smartwatch same
  • applications natively supported (among others): Gmail, Whatsapp, Hangouts
  • managing songs in smartphones (in this regard, note that the list of compatible software is well stocked)
  • alarm management
  • ability to change the watchface — the appearance of the clock with the infinite amount of different watchfaces on the network (but you can save only 8 watchfaces the clock)
  • possibility of installation of additional programs (such as programs for running and timing), although they are often a fee and their functionality sometimes limited
  • incredible battery life of 5 days, holding the smartwatch constantly access

Pros and cons

Pros of Pebble Smartwatch

  • good autonomy
  • excellent visibility of the screen (without backlight)
  • “fun” features like being able to choose from many different watchfaces
  • practical use of buttons
  • water resistant to a depth of 5 atmospheres

Cons of Pebble Smarwatch

  • Too little internal memory
  • Aesthetics made less clean by the presence of buttons too big
  • Few applications available

Final considerations

The Pebble Smartwatch was one of the first to be marketed. Its more than a functional value is a historical value. You will surely find the most advanced and feature rich smartwatch. Evolution of this model is the Pebble Time that has made the most of all the lessons learned through this first model and managed to bring the Pebble to another level.
