The Acer Travel Mate X 3 trumps in the race for the best travel companion with chic, great on processing and high performance levels. The test!
In the X 3’s Travel Mate series, Acer offers a variety of different models for business users, so those interested in price and amenities have spoilt for choice. We opted for the test for the top model with Intel Core i7 processor and 512 SSD for about 1,050 euros. Who do without some performance, finds smaller models for under 700 euros. The stylish aluminium housing in the somewhat staid, but quite elegant, dark look is all together. The processing follows the optical impression and is very solid and overall managed. The keyboard is illuminated and striking with good layout and very pleasant stop while this supports large touchpad multi gesture control and allows for easy operation.
A matte 14-inch IPS display with full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) is used for the display. Brightness was quite weak laboratory measurements for our compared to competing models, which actually is not the case in this price class. The contrast value was, however, quite convinced and also the reflection behavior remains at a low level. The graphics provided by the internal processor graphics HD 520 and expected results. Standard applications are represented fluidly and easily, not too demanding games are also playable.
Performance for Demanding Tasks
A strong core i7 6500U Intel, so a processor of the sixth and thus no longer quite current core generation provides computing power in the test model. Compared with the new 7500U-Version is thus omitted on some performance, but that is no problem for most applications. The processor power is flanked by a Hynix- SSD 512 GB with 8 GB DDR4 memory. Thus arises a round total system that impressed in the benchmarks.
3DMark “Cloud Gate” it brings in the test on above-average 6,160 points. Here also some current Direct X games with pleasure who leaves the game settings on low or medium, can play on the go. PC Mark 8 (work) delivers 2.990 points, which is more than sufficient for standard applications, background but not quite as comparison models, such as the 3DMark-Wert. Cinebench R15 is 320 points in the better midfield of comparable models. As mobile Business associate the notebook should also have a long maturity under load. PCMark battery life (work) determined a value of 327 minutes, so just under five and a half hours, which is slightly above average.
In the remaining facilities afford Acer no dropouts and provides all the interfaces you could wish for currently. USB is based on a port in the version 2.0, 3.0 and 3.1 (type C) supports. Serves as a digital output HDMI, a card reader, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a fingerprint reader are also included.
Demanding business users get with the TravelMate X 3 a solidly and powerful notebook. The brightness of the display fails but unfortunately too low. Still an interesting model with many uses.
