Competition in the mobile sector is intense, but if there is a segment where he becomes still more complicated if there is no doubt in the middle range. Today the offer is enormous, but a few years ago there were many proposals to follow the philosophy of the “a lot for very little”, if not that the choice is reduced to a few models and among them, the Motorola Moto G were no doubt the Kings of this category.
Things have changed a lot in a few years and today the middle range has grown to almost complete saturation. But in Lenovo they not surrender and continue trying to sure its Moto G line is among the most interesting options of this segment. His latest proposal is the duo Moto G5 and G5 Plus bike we just know at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. We see everything what offer.
More manageable sizes and metal designs
Just like its predecessors, the new G5 bike come in two variants, a normal with some simple features and a more complete Plus variant, but in this case joined other differences.
The screen size is the main difference with the naked eye and which also distance them from the previous Moto G4, whose screens were both 5.5 inch. Lenovo rectifies this time and bet by two diagonals different, both more manageable.
The Moto G5 bet by a panel of 5 inches while his older brother up to 5.2 inches. That Yes, the two maintain the FullHD resolution 1080 p, so their density is of 440 and 423 pixels respectively, which is not bad.
Regarding the design, Motorola says that you between plastic, metal or glass, 48% of users prefer the metal and both models feature grey or gold tone aluminium housings. However, only Moto Plus G5 bet on unibody design, the G5 bike keeps the possibility to remove the back cover to access the battery.
The visual language maintains consistency with earlier generations, although in this case they have gotten rid of those little flattering square front buttons, instead on a more oval shape. Both are equipped with an integrated fingerprint reader.
Moto Plus G5
But the detail that is striking is in the rear and camera. Lenovo has used the same style that we saw in the Moto Z and Z Play bike, by placing the camera in a large black circle that excels at Moto Plus G5 chassis, while in the G5 bike is slightly below the housing.
Speaking of cameras, the Moto G5 has 13 megapixel of resolution and focus by phase detection. Moreover, the Moto Plus G5 benefits from a more advanced configuration. Its main sensor has 12 megapixels, but is larger and that, combined with its lens f/1.7, translates into better low-light according to the company.
The approach is another strong point of the Moto Plus G5 camera. The terminal account with technology Dual Pixel so that the approach is faster (up to 60% more than the G4 Plus according to Lenovo). For the front camera, the two have a 5 megapixel sensor.
A hardware restrained with the latest Android, Google included Assistant
Another key difference with respect to the previous Moto G4 resides in the processor, more specifically in the Moto G5. If Lenovo last year argued for the same chip (Snapdragon 617), this year the G5 bike suffers cuts and complies with a Snapdragon 430, While his older brother rides Snapdragon 625.
In regards to memory, the two have 2 GB of RAM, although the Moto Plus G5 will be in a version of 3 GB of RAM. Contrary to what had been said, the internal capacity will be the basic model 16 GB and 32 GB in the upper.
For the battery, motorcycle G5 integrates a unit of 2,800 mAh capacity with fast charging system and the G5 Plus climbs to 3000 mAh with function TurboPower, a system that, according to Lenovo, gets up to six hours of autonomy in just 15 minutes.
Of course, in the section of the software have 7.0 Android Nougat and an interface that is very close to Android stock, including support for Google Assistant, Although currently the wizard is only available in English.
In addition, Lenovo is allowed to include some functions as the system of notifications Moto Display and Moto Actions, with advantages such as the scrolling between screens with gestures on the fingerprint reader.
